Hi my daughter was prescribed Humira for Crohn, we did not start treatment yet because Im leaving overseas next month for 10 weeks. I was fighting with insurance to get 3 month vacational supply and unfortunately they cant give me more then month supply so therefore I cant start her on Humira because I wuld have to interupt the treatment. It is sux but I have no choice. To ship med overseas refrigerated wuld be fortune and when asked fedex they said shipping meds is prohibited. so now any suggestion what other temporary meds could she take for this 3 month. I dont want to keep postponing treatment.

Talk to her Gi
Bridge therapy is een (formula only ) or steriods
Other meds take about 12 weeks to work /require close monitoring such as methotrexate

How severe is her disease? Can she stand to go 10 weeks without heavy intervention?

If so, then even as much as I hate thiopurine therapy, something like 6mp may be useful to try to lessen her disease on a temporary basis. If her disease is moderate to more severe then perhaps a temporary course of budesonide might be in order.

But in any case I'm just throwing out possibilities. This is really a question for her gastroenterologist.

thanks, my daughter has no symptoms so thats why I feel like to postpone wuldnt hurt but maybe I wrong.

No symptoms doesn’t mean no damage going on inside
Think of a couch fire
It can be burning inside doing damage with barely any smoke
Talk to her Gi about what the options are and that you held the meds this long so far .
