Other females have this problem?

Hello friends,

First proper post here! I was officially diagnosed with Crohn’s disease back in July this year after having proper symptoms start to appear back in January. Other than the usual symptoms (and the pain, oh man...), I have unusual problem with itching in the female area, especially around the vaginal area. It can be quite unreleting especially at night time.

I have brought this up with several gp’s, including my GI, but most think I just have some sort of dryness going on. I’ve been tested for every disease under the sun, including STI’s that I definitely don’t have. However, I wonder if this is a symptom of the Crohn’s? The only relief I had was when I was on prednisolone for a month. Any ideas or suggestions?

I should mention my Crohn’s is definitely not under control at the moment.

What meds are you taking? When I was on humira I had the same issue. Went to Gyn Dr and he stated it was dryness and gave me meds, which cleared up but I also switched meds. So I don't know what really was the cause.

I have same issue on Remicade. OTC Cortizone cream is all recommended, Yes itch and dryness are from Crohn's. Good luck. If you hear of another treatment please post- it drives me nutz sometimes.

Hey Retta, I'm currently on methotrexate which isn't working at the moment. I'm waiting for my prescription for humira which I'll take in combination with the methotrexate. However, I've had this problem since before being diagnosed so I think it may be a symptom of Crohn's? I've just got no idea how to get the itching under control!

I was prescribed some steroid cream by one gp which seemed to work at first, however, it doesn't seem to be having any effect anymore.

it's good to hear I'm not the only one with this problem!! I'm seeing a gynaeo later this month (had to wait nearly 2 months to get an appointment, ugh). So if they give me any other ideas I'll definitely post them!
