What causes pain immediately after eating? I mean, as soon as I finish eating, my lower abdomen starts hurting. Obviously, it's NOT the food I just ate, as that's still in my stomach. Does eating make things from earlier start moving again? Or does it trigger cramping? It doesn't seem to matter what or when I eat, I always have pain after a meal.

Hi, I have an ileostomy and as soon as I start eating it is active (sorry if tmi). I was told that the small intestine starts working to expel food passing through as soon as I start to eat. So maybe your pain is because your small intestine is starting to do its thing.

Sorry not a technical explanation lol.

I get pain immediately after eating, and also about 30-40mins a different type of pain. I have just found out it is because of gastric ulcers which are probably gastric crohn's.
It is possible to have general inflammation of the stomach which can cause pain on eating.

Often caused by pred, entocort, biphosphonates ( for your bones). What dose ppi are you on? Have you had an endoscopy recently?

It doesn't feel like stomach pain. It's much lower. I'm on 40mg twice/day. I was supposed to have an endoscopy a few weeks ago, but insurance denied me. I had to see a different doctor for it to be covered and he doesn't think I need one yet.

You could also have rapid dumping from the stomach into the bowel. I have it, and oi veh, do I get where you're coming from. I'm flaring. Even an ensure and saltines got to me today. IMMEDIATELY after swallowing.

Thank goodness for Stan. Sorry if TMI too!

yeah i have that also, soon as i eat maybe not even 5 min i feel pain going on my left side of my tummy... i tried different things life eating less, eating really slowly and chewing my food really well, to eating soft foods and it doesnt matter.. i was thinking since its the side that hurts when i flare that means something is passing through where my inflamation is..

Hi all,
I also get similar pains immediately after eating. To satisfy my apparent need to try to have an explanation for everything here goes..
Basically swallowing food starts something called peristalsis. The muscles in your throat progressively contract to push the food down. This process actually keep on going. So the food is in your stomach getting (un)happily digested, stopped from entering your SI by a sphincter, while the muscle contractions continue to the SI. I'm thinking these contractions hit an area of inflammation/disease and cause pain. (Kinda like opening your mouth wide with cracked lips... or something)
For completeness sake i'll say that I know the movements in the colon responsible for BMs are different (called 'mass movements'), but to the best of my knowledge the peristaltic like waves that started in the throat do continue all the way down.
