Hi All,
I'm new to the site.
I just had a resection done Sept 19th. A few inches of colon and 13 inches of small intestine removed. My recovery has not been too bad but I am still having some pain and its painful to touch at the resection site (where they attached two ends together) it also feels quite hard there. Is this normal and if so how long does the pain last? This is my first surgery so don't know quite what to expect.
Thank you

Hi Leannez
Sorry you are feeling uncomfortable but it is early days yet after your surgery and it does take a bit of time to heal especially inside where we can't see what's happening.
I had a sigmoid colectomy last September 2015......and the pain continued for a few months after getting less as time went by.it also felt a bit lumpy.
The surgeon checked three weeks after and also the GI specialist continues to follow at three month intervals.
It would be advisable for you to let the doctor know what you are experiencing don't let it continue without some advice.
Feel better soon
Hugs

I had my op on 1st August and still have some tenderness. I asked my IBD nurse and she said that because it's an autoimmune disease and the body is still fighting an illness, healing times can be longer. Not what I wanted to hear, but certainly explained it a bit. I thought I was just being mardy!
