Does anyone ever have pain (stabbing, tightness, sharp, debilitating) in their rectum? I have been having pain in my butt for at least 6 months and when I first started my remicade it subsided, but not for long (maybe 3 weeks). It's not constant but when it happens it takes my breath away, I can't sit, stand, lay down... It can last anywhere from a few seconds to days... It's seems that nothing but time takes it away. As far as I have been told I have no hemorrhoids. What on earth can be causing this??? I also notice it when I'm having more stomach pain. Do you think it's just from the intestinal inflammation? My CD is in my ileum and cecum.

i always attribute that pain to my fistulas when I get it. Mine is very quick and twingey. Any chance you have something like that going on? I hope you find an answer.

I was had a perirectal abscess that they drained and it did not go away so they did an mri. They found 2 fistulas one that was connected to the problem area and one that went from rectum to vagina.

You mentioned that the pain can last a while for you. Have they mentioned if your crohns is active in your rectum? Before the abscess I was having a lot of mucus and twinging pains - the gi had me take a cortizone steroid suppository for a week or so and it worked well at making it feel better briefly.

Wow! That sucks. I doubt that he can legally withhold your records. Maybe you should look into that? The threat of a lawsuit might help his attitude.

My surgeon is the one who I mostly see for the fistula/rectal stuff he can look there with an little scope in his office and see how active it is. He said he can see the area better with that than a colonoscopy. Its not a procedure or a test or anything - but if you are limited to what they can do and your pain is there maybe the gi could use one to take a look. Its called an anuscope I think.

I agree with the legal aspect with the old GI, I need to do something! As if this road isnt tough enough without a doctor gumming up the works, i must admit he is probably the strangest person i have ever met in my life! The other information you also gave about the scope is a good idea, I'm going to check into that. I thank you a ton for your input.
