Does anything work for pain relief??

Is it worthwhile asking for tramadol?

Have been taking cocodomal for 5 weeks now and it takes the edge off, but still in bad pain the past couple of days. Wondering what to ask GP for in the morning

He needs suggestions, usually he looks online or whatever, so would like to be armed- saves time!!

Thanks guys xx

cocodamol is one of the strongest you can buy over the counter - it's pretty effective but it is well known for causing gastro issues and constipation in particular.

i've had tramadol in the past, for extreme pain such as when i slipped a disk in my back.. pain-wise it was amazing, but it does knock you out, so be prepared to be dozy if you're going to take it.

i've found that Syndol is pretty good for most aches and pains, better than just paracetamol.

Is Syndol stronger??

Am using cocodomal 8/500 strength I should of said! Getting through 100 in no time at the moment.. must be something better!

There are stronger painkillers... but are you sure that's what you need? Tramadol will, probably, bung you up like thing that is bunged up to the armpits. If you need constant pain relief then you should be looking at something like Butrans patches - Buprenorphine, starting at 5mg and see how it goes.

However, I wouldn't ask outright for these things or you might be labelled as a junkie.... I'd use the 'maximum dose cocodamol is not giving me enough pain relief is there something else you can give me?' line.

They are happily reeling off 100 a week... its madness..and they arent working 100%

Thanks so much, I will be firm, Tell them taking 8 a day and still doubled up with the pain

my docs usually give me vicdoin to take for it, er usually gives me iv of morphine or didulin

I had pains for 17 years and was only diagnosed this year. I actually thought for a long time, because i was told this, that my pain was from my intestinal muscles getting out of sync, so instead of a snake like contraction, I'd get two contractions and it caused a ballooning affect in between them, who knows about that. But based on that I worked on a biofeedback technique where I sort of relaxed myself. I was not pain free, but as soon as I started to get pains I could lie down and effectively calm things down. I used to calm things down by having a bowel movement, but that proved to cause the pain to be worse as my systyem got emptied. So I just worked up this relaxation technique, which is hard to explain how I do it. I can even instantly cure my hiccups with the same technique.

Thanks for the replies guys, relcation technique sounds useful

For now using 30/500 cocodomal , 8 a day

He said it may make me sleepy, but should at least keep the pain moderate
