Pain under right ribs

My daughters been getting pain under her right ribs the last few days. She describes the pain as aching / burning. The pain varies from 5 mins to 30 mins. Panadol and a hot water bottle settle the pain. Its been on and off so l haven't called her nurse yet. Any ideas what could be causing this ?

Sounds like this may be the gallbladder being a bit naughty. Had mine removed. Ask her if the pain radiates through to her back. Hope she will be ok

Now that you mentioned it, it did radiate to the back the other day.

Well, I had gallbladder trouble from 18. Felt kind of a strange feeling but very nasty. My last attack before removal was seriously nasty. Pain went into my chest after starting in my back. Watch for pain in these areas too. Pain was immense and no painkillers ever worked. Attacks often would become worse upon eating a high fat meal. I would suggest asking for an ultrasound scan for your daughter if it persists. To be sure. Could be something and nothing but best to be certain.

Hi, I'm getting pain under ribs through to my back. Consultant thinks it's a narrowing in my bowel!!

My wife has a similar pain. She does not have a Gallbladder or Crohns. I can't figure it out either.

My pain is from strictures, under the ribs, radiates to the back. I hope that it is not the case with your daughter.

No answers yet. On examination she was sore when he pressed between the ribs, but more to the right. He said her pain is located in the liver / gallbladder area.

I have to book an ultrasound and chest xray on Monday. He also did a blood test.

Fingers crossed so far no pain today.

I have had this for 4 years. I had an abdominal MRI back in 2010 and to look at my liver and gallbladder etc. only thing found was a benign cyst on liver and GI assured me it was not the cause of my pain. I was then discharged and told I had anxiety!

Now four years down the line despite being told I had anxiety and ibs my gp did a calprotectin test and low and behold it's come back high! So now I've to have a colonoscopy etc. I still have the ache at my ribs in my back and also in my front.
