think this is the right place to put this. ive been on Imuran for 3 weeks now and just yesterday i started to get pain in the back of my neck like right up above the top where it meets the scull and it sends pain like a headache coming on and it hurts to move the head to either side, i have got the chills with it plus so tired just want to sleep all the time. is this a side effect of the usage of Imuran? has anyone had this side effect before if it is one? should i be worried here? im thinkin of just stoppin Imuran tomorrow, do you have to be weaned off of it like Predisone? or can you just automatically just stop? please any advice would help thanx.

I don't mean to freak you out but I think I'd take a trip to the emergency room just to be safe. These meds are powerful, it's better to err on the side of caution.

Are you running a fever? Or do you have a horrible headache?.....If you are you need to go the ER...You do NOT have to wean off Imuran like Prednisone.....Feel better Minky:)

My doc took me off Imuran for what he thinks was an allergic reaction. I on the other hand think it could have just been a panic attack, but he said it could have been either so he'd rather be on the safe side. I was sweating, shaking and having the chills. Didn't have the headache or turning my head problem, mostly just panic attack type symptoms. All of my symptoms occured after being on it for around 4 months! I didn't have to wean off of it, just stopped taking it. I would def think about going to the ER to find out and if you don't then call your doc first thing and see what he thinks.

Hang in there and feel better soon! Let us know what you find out!

Those symptoms sound horribly familiar to the one's I had on Aza, but I do think you need to get it checked out. Hope you feel better soon!

Minky - don't take yourself off of a medication without consulting your doctor first. AND....consult your doctor asap - who knows what this could be. I get stress headaches that sound EXACTLY like that (they are sooo annoying!!!) - but if you are running any kind of fever you need to be seen by someone to rule out stuff. I'm being dramatic here - but what if you had meningitis or something?? You should just consult your GI about the med and your symptoms - and see what they say. Let us know how it goes and how you are feeling ok?

well i still feel like crap, i phoned my GI doctor earlier this morning and told him everything and he told me instead of taking 100mg everyday drop down to 50mg and take it at night time for a couple of days and if that doesnt improve anything to just stop the medication and he'll put me on another kind when i go see him in another 2 weeks. but i was just thinkin to just stop it all together till i see him cuz i dont like how i feel on this medication the neck pain i have its now been 3 days and even advil aint helpin that i feel sick to my tummy, im runnin a fever but not a high one and all i want to do is just sleep its hard to even get up in the mornings =(

i was thinkin to ask the doctor to put me on Azulfidine, has anyone taken this one?? and i was wondering has anyone tried just doin the probiotics+vitamins+anti-flammable combo??

PS. thank you for all who answered me, you gals and guys are so great *hugs*

I took Azulfidine for years, with no problems except extra sun sensitivity. I became allergic after about 5 years. I've done the probiotics+vitamins+anti-flammable combo, too. Just be sure you space the vitamins and probiotics about 1 hour before or after your meds, or they cancel each other out. The vitamins helped me feel better, not really sure about probiotics.

Glad you called the doc Minky. I *just* started taking vitamins about two weeks ago - and boy - I was missing something I think because I already feel like I have more energy. I am going to be adding in fish oil next week for a few weeks, and then calcium/D after that. I do things slowly because I have a history of not tolerating supplements well. I am buying "whole food" based supplements with no fillers/binders in them.

But....are you asking if you should *just* do that combo and not take any medications? If so, I wouldn't recommend it unless your disease is very very mild. I think if you read any of the recent posts you are going to see me spouting about the need to be on some kind of med to keep the inflammation down so you don't risk needing surgery. But that is just me- I know what would happen if I came off my meds, I'd pretty much flare within a month.

Oh yes I second Peaches post-I didn't mean for you to only try supplements. I did that once and paid dearly for it!
