Hi everyone, Just had Kian to the dentist as he needed a little filling doing, much braver than me as im pertified of the dentists, lol. Anyway, chatting away to the dentist about the new med kian is on and he asked about antibiotics and that he was sure penicillin was one that wasn't to be used while on mxt. I didn't know this.... still so much to learn. xx

O was prescribed a penicillin and in the pamphlet that came with it is did say not to use with Mtx but I checked with our GI and he said that is for large doses of Mtx not the smaller dose that she is on. So I guess it depends on how much you are on, if you can get away without the antibiotic etc. But yeah, I run every med prescribed by another doc past our GI...you can't be to careful can you.

UGH! I hate cavities! Despise going to the dentist. Good job Kian!

Mtx can interact with penicillin but Lucy has had it a few times now and no problems. Your pharmacist should alert you to the potential risks and also run it by your GI.
