Have you lost a lot of weight coz sometimes they stop when your weight gets too low that happened to me when I went down to 5 stone. They back to normal now I'm back to my normal weight after having my bowel removed(life saving emergency surgery) that was a yr and a half ago. Got my next op Thursday :(

I have lost a lot of weight but i meancould it be beacuase i cant eat and my bodys tryning to sayve the energy ?
I hate not havin them tbh

Hmm could it have something to do with changing the pill thing? Seems weird tho that it started around the same time

Mine stopped when I lost weight when I was sick and not diagnosed yet, I didn't have it for 3-4 mos, the doctors said it was due to the weight loss and mal-nutrition. Since starting steroids. Remicade and 6-MP I have had 1 period and it has been 2 months since I was diagnosed. I have put on 8 pounds and I am due for it in 2 weeks, not sure why I had one and then didn't, could be stress related~. But, I assume your amenorrhea would be due to your weight loss etc, but let your doc know! I hope this helps! Feel better xo

Honestly you have a few contributing factors. Just one or all combined could play a role:

Change in pill
You aren't eating/lack of adequate nutrition needed for your body to properly function
Weight loss
Flaring currently
and yes, if you are stressed, that can definitely play a role as well. I have missed my period a few times simply from stress.

I think I remember you saying before that you are still undiagnosed. Are you taking anything to help control your symptoms? What has your doctor said or suggested about all of this?

Im taking diyhydrocodine&tramdol, omperazol 80mg Domperdone also paracemal
Im was meant to be see a dietion and my appiontment was meant to be as a urget one but my hosital is poo i cant get in tull september 10 i think its bad '
Im still undiagnosed but as ive got the hospital in two weks ive been making lot notes of things i want to ask as i forget
Is there any think you can sujuest for me to ask

I posted a thread about this recently, I haven't had a period for the past 4 months, and I stopped taking my contraceptive pill on my last period break which was four months ago.
They said it could be due to weight loss with me, although I do not feel I am slim by any means. 5ft 6in and 9stone (126lbs)
They also said it could be due to the trauma your body has been through and that when your body settles they would come back.
I hate not having them too, my boyfriends had me doing pregnancy tests all the time to check i'm not pregnant! (i'm not by the way)
So it could just be a 'time is a great healer'
My doctor also said don't worry about fertility cause it happens to loads and loads and loads of people and it's fine.

I know it probably won't make it any easier but people are in the same situation.
Crohns is a bitch but we just have to bring that bitch down!
:)

My daughter period stopped for 5 months. 2 months before diagnosis and 3 after. She had lost a lot of weight. I believed is due to malnutrition.

First off, are you sure you're not pregnant? If that isn't it, it certainly could be the weight loss or the stress of being sick or your new BC pill or a combination of all three.

I hope you get some answers at your appointment.

I am sure I am not pregnant :)
My boyfriends had me taking tests religiously to make sure.
I hope it doesn't affect me one day becoming a mum that's all i'm scared of.
:(

Weight loss below your ideal body weight can cause your body to stop the menstruation cycle temporarily. Usually once you are able to regain the weight, the body will restart the cycle again. Malnourishment and low body weight both cause interruption of the cycle.

I found my periods stopped for over a year at a time and very regularly. I hardly had any periods in my younger days. I was told this was due to my weight and ill health. Basically you apparently need to be around 7 stones (UK), and maintain a certain weight for periods to be good and regular.

Hopefully when you are diagnosed you will be treated accordingly and your docs will help to try and get your weight back up. Certainly talk to the dietician about your periods, they are usually female and very, very easy to talk to on any matter. Much easier than some of the male GI specialists.
good luck though
