So I swallowed my pillcam this morning at 8:15. It passed at 10:45. The girl I spoke to on the phone seemed quite surprised.

Any thoughts?

I thought the pill cam was supposed to take at least 8 hours to pass through the digestive system.

Don't claim to know a great deal about it, I had it done nearly two years ago and had to hang around the hospital ward for at least eight hours while it "photographed" my intestines. I did work well, but can't own up to see it passing out the other end.

What did the the hospital staff say to you about the process that is used at your hospital?

My procedures were to follow a clear liquid diet the day before and nothing the morning of. When I swallowed the pillcam, I had to drink 16oz of water. They said that after 2 hours I could have clear liquids. At about 10:35 I opened a Sprite zero and it came out a few minutes later.

I could tell it had passed, because the light was flashing in the toilet.

Mine was done in the doctors office. When I went back to bring them the receiver, they were just surprised that it went through so quickly, but said that it should be okay. I go back on the 4th to hopefully get results.

I'm at least hoping that that having the pillcam go through so quickly is at least some sign to them that there is actually something really wrong with me.

sounds like they will be able to download some pics, so they will be able to see something if its there. Was going to wish you good luck, but thats not quite rite if you know what I mean. Hope they are able to assist with a diagnosis.

I had it done a few weeks back. They did tell me beforehand that the pill could pass in less than 8 hours, and that was fine. Just how extensive or useful the photos are when it passes so fast, I don't know. However, not that it's a sure thing, but, it could lead one to believe you have very little stricturing. Alternately, depending on how your overall feeling, it could also indicate you may or may not be absorbing all you need from your food, also.

I would hope others could add their experiences. My nurses weren't the most knowledgeable; they tried to tell me if the pill got stuck, that wouldn't be a bad thing because I'd probably need the surgery anyway! My pill passed in 12 hours, or so.

I had my pillcam today and it passed in just under 7 hours. She told me that the quick time might impact how many pictures they can take. It is supposed to take between 12-24 hours to pass, but with all the diarrhea I've been having, I'm surprised it took that long.

Mine took about 3 hours to pass, and they analyzed the results the same day about 3 hours later. I had a Crohns disease diagnosis after they saw many ulcerations and erosion's where the colonoscopy couldn't go. Hopefully this will tell some answers for you!

My pill cam got stuck in a stricture !! that I didn't know I had lol
They only saw 2 hrs of footage / pics because it stayed in the same place after that lol

Luckily it came out eventually , I didn't see it but it was confirmed with an xray
