Pooing problems

Hi,

Over the last few years I have had two abscesses and two fistulas. Thankfully they are now either healed or healing thanks in infliximab.

I have quite a lot of scarring around the anal region, though this doesnt cause any discomfort. However, when I do my business on the toilet, I will wipe and wipe and wipe until it is dry as a bone and clean as a whistle, but then 20 minutes later I have to go back and wipe again because there will be a lot of new waste appearing. Sometimes I have to repeat this process 2 or 3 times.

This is not good for me as it stains my underwear and is obviously uncomfortable, especially if im in a public place or on a long journey.

Does anyone have any similar experiences??

Yes, I have similar problems that I attribute to having surgery twice for fistulas. I use a regular pantyliner and change it several times a day so it doesn't smell.

Hey there. A big hello to you both. I'm sorry to hear you've both been left with this nasty, inconvenient symptom. The first thought that sprang to mind was some sort of damage to the sphincter. Did either of you have cutting of some sort as part of your treatment. What are your doctors saying?

I haven't really talked about it too much with my doctor as had more serious problems to deal with first.

I am going for my inflixmab on tuesday so will discuss it with my IBD nurse, im sure she will have experience of it. I really should have said something before but its a tough subject to discuss really.
