I've been having some discomfort in my lower left quadrant from IBD lately - I also have Crohn's in my Terminal ileum. My question is related to what looks like a brownish yellow fluid that appears on the bottom of the toilet around my stool. Both the stool and the fluid remain on the bottom of the toilet. It is not red and my stool while thin is a normal color. Am I looking at bile or stomach acid? Anyone?

Hi ok hope this helps ..thin stool can be caused by polyp's in the colon, the yellowy brown maybe caused by a massive amounts of yellow food colouring, but im guessing it's not likley to be that , but also by problems relating to several organs ie. stomach , liver , large or small intestines but these mainly cause the actual stool to be yellow, but please seek medical advice regarding this situation, and get checked out sooner rather than later, hope this is of use to you, take care, and best wishes.. let us know how you go on please ..

also bile salts can affect your stool , and gall bladder / liver issues if grey /yellow colour. i know it sounds scary but it may be that it's none of the above.

Thanks for responding. My stool is typical brown in color. It is not pencil-thin as in stricture. I'm not consuming foods with yellow or orange dyes.

I put in a call to my doc.
