Being on imuran my immune system isn't all that great. I just got over a cold a little more than a week ago, now I have another one. My girlfriend's daughter is two and in daycare, so she pretty much catches every bug that goes in there, which I catch in turn. Since being on imuran I've been pretty conscious to wash my hands often, but when you're around a 2yr old it's pretty hard not to catch it from them.

When I catch a cold or flu it takes a long time for me to get rid of it, and I usually end up with infections too. Last time I had eye infections and strep throat.

Is there any way for me to help get rid of it a bit quicker? Sometimes it just seems that I just get over one thing and I catch something else. Sneezing and having D at the same time is un-fun! ;)

Zinc helps both healing and helps the immune system with viruses. Make sure you are getting the RDA of Zinc. Magnesium is another mineral that helps with immune issues.

Try to take a multivitamin with adequate levels of Zinc, Vitmain C and Vitamin A. Also drinking tea helps the immune system

Hmm, be interested to hear what the doctors take on this is? Like, imuran is taken to suppress the immune system, yet trying to boost the immune system via supplements, vitamins, etc., altho a 'natural' reaction, seems contra-indicated, at least contradictory. I mean, if one succeeds, arent' you defeating the purpose of taking immuran, or any of the other immuno suppressing therapies/treatments???

i had the same problem when, i was put on immunosuppresents (sp), i picked up every bug going, infact i still do, i just used to let the bug run its course.
