Pred & Sore Throat

Hi Everyone! I'm on prednisone for the 2nd time since I was diagnosed last year. This time I'm not having the energy i felt while taking it last time. In fact, I woke up this morning w a really painful sore throat. Is this a common pred side effect? Should I call my doc? This is day 5 of 40 mg. Any help is appreciated!

I don't think I have ever heard of that as a side effect of Pred. Is it possible you are just getting sick?

No harm in calling the doc, better safe than sorry!

Sore throat eh? Well, there are a myriad possibilities. 1) If you have white spots on the roof of your mouth and at the back of your throat, you may have thrush (yeast infection of the oropharynx). 2) Steroids suppress your immune system, so you may be getting sick. If your sore throat is severe (red, swollen, and painful during swallowing, even saliva), go to your doctor for a quick strep test.
