If a flare is very mild some people have their diet so down pat that modifications to it can be enough to bring things under control again.

For most though the three initial treatment options you would be looking at are Enteral Nutrition, Prednisone or Budesonide with the latter two perhaps having an antibiotic thrown into the mix as well.

Not really sure but I think there are alternatives - I know EN is used by alot of docs in UK instead of the pred.
 
Definitely look into EN. We tried both prednisone and EN to get my son's flare under control and if we had to choose again we would both choose EN in a heart beat. My son did exclusive EN for 6 weeks. He did his feeds via a NG tube that he inserted every night and removed every morning and the formula was pumped into him while he slept. Through the day he was allowed clear fluids, hard candies and a few gummy bears. It was hard but definitely better than the pred.
