prescription omeprazole?

I just started taking 20mg of prescription omeprazole this morning... have any of you taken this? Is it normal to have a TERRIBLE headache when first starting it? And does it really help? Not sure if I wanna stay on it if its gonna make me feel like this... thanks!!

Sorry Peanutt. I was on it for a little while. I'd been on Pred for 6 months, then during a hospital stay, they told me I should be on it to protect my stomach from the steroid. I don't remember getting headaches with it.
What have they prescribed it for?

Its prescribed for heartburn (I get it at least 3x a week), indigestion, and bloating. Fun stuff of course! lol.

I have taken this, still do sometimes.
It works a treat.
I found it also helped a bunch when taking strong antibiotics that give a burning stomach.
No headache for me from this.

Thank you!! It feels almost like a migraine is starting but I haven't had an episode of those in a long time... since all my tummy issues started... didn't want to discontinue the medicine without asking so I could differentiate between the 2 lol. I'm relieved to hear that it does help!

Question, though... I am often ungodly nauseous... do you feel it helps with that at all? Or no?

Could be just a coincedence that you got a bad headache... but if in a few days you're still feeling rough on it then talk to your Dr.

I've had it with no side effects... another med I was taking at the same time did give me awful nausea within hours of taking the first pill though!

I get bad headaches when our weather changes, the barometric pressure changes. I can tell when it is going to rain with out even looking at or hearing the weather....lol
I hope the headache is a coincidence...I found this med works very good. (one of the very few things I didnt have a reaction to)

I've had Omeprazole for years and I never had headaches.

I've been on 20mg for a few years, no side effects except no appetite..which could be a side effect of another med or just crohns. Since I've been on it I haven't had heartburn or GERD problems once. I love it.

I'm on 80mg omeprazole and never had headache with it.

Hi Peanut,
I've been taking 40mg twice per day for quite some time and have never noticed any headaches or nausea associated with it.
Hope your symptoms go away soon and that's not the cause
