I've had colitis/Crohn's since I was 14. I'm now 69. I've been through every drug including 5mg of pure ACTH back when they were experimenting with it.
Also Remicade, Humira, sulfa drugs, prednisone, etc.
Then, on an exam (I was having pretty bad heartburn), my doctor noticed a small hole in my esophagus. He prescribed Prilosec (two tablets in the morning, wait about one hour before eating). The heartburn went away completely, and hasn't been back, but the amazing thing was that I could get off a high dose of Budesonide and go to a maintenance dose, AND eat foods I haven't eaten since I was 14. Even melon. I know this sounds like an ad for Prilosec, but after suffering for over 50 years, I thought I should share this.
(I also take Metamucil once in the AM and once at night.)

That's great that you're doing well on the Prilosec :) Be sure they monitor your magnesium and B12 levels as it can result in decreased uptake of those and people with Crohn's are already commonly deficient in them.

Welcome to the community by the way :)

Thank you, David.
This is a great source and resource.
I just had my monthly B-12 shot today and I take a multivitamin with
Magnesium in it.
Thanks!

Glad to hear it Richard :) The only problem with a multi is it will contain only 50-100mg of magnesium. Your daily requirements are much higher and pretty hard to meet. Please don't let the multi lull you into a false sense of security there.
