Hello

I have Crohn's disease (Diagnosed about 4 years ago ) after gar-bladder removal surgery .

Now I'm taking :

Imuran 75mg per day
Asacol 4 tablets per day

And I'm in remission from 2 years maybe or less .
My doctor told me I should be away from spicy food .

I want to gain weight (5.5 ft 117lb -or- 175cm 54kg) .
I purchased a WEIGHT GAINER CALLED 'TRUE MASS 1200' (contains MILK -lactose-)

And used it for 2 days with no problems (just little stomach upset) but I have stopped it when I read that could flares up the disease .

Is this correct ? Is there any link between flaring up and protein shakes ?
I made a homemade high calorie shake (milk+banana+nutella+oats+honey) BUT DIDN'T WORK coz contains no protein .

I'm really confused :yfrown: . Can I use serious mass product or true mass or whey ??

Please I need your help .

Thanks

I'd be willing to bet it contains maltodextrin or dextrose which are linked to harmful bacterial overgrowth.

Also possibly sucralose which isn't very good for the gut either.

That said, needing absurd protein to gain weight is a myth. Your body produces its own protein, it needs some consumed orally for health, but only roughly 1 gram per kg of bodyweight.

Calories are the primary factor in how much weight you gain.

If you want protein get it from a healthy, pure source like chicken, eggs, tuna or an unflavored whey powder.
