:sign0085:In recent days i have been getting a cramping and kind of tightness/pain in the lower abdomen section. just below the belt line. I am not exactly sure what it is, but i usually get that feeling a short time before i need to use the restroom. Anyone have any ideas at to what it might be or could be causing it?:ymad:

Just pondering out loud here Mark but could be spasm of your gut and especially if its pre bathroom use.

Alot of the crohns folks here including me have also been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome - IBS can cause horrendous cramping believe it or not.

Try some peppermint tea and see if that helps or perhaps discuss an antispasmodic with your doc.

Hope you get some relief soon.

it could also be flaring in the last part of your large intestine/colon. retention enema's & suppositories can often work quite well for this area, as it gets the meds straight to the area that needs it.

most the ones i've used in the past have been OTC steroid based which i know some people have problems with, but it did save that area for me when i had surgery to remove the rest of my large intestine.

best wishs

mark, i get a similar thing. its right before i need to go to the bathroom that i get terrible cramps like that. and i never get them except for when i need to go.
i think it is b/c the inflamed tissue is trying to function and eliminate the poo. like a sore muscle trying to function i suppose. its ok if you leave it at rest, but if you try and use it, youre in pain.
thats the way i think of it.

I know how you feel as at this very moment I am feeling the same thing. It's like a dull, achy, burning sensation. I don't know what's causing it and I rarely get D; however, I have mostly C. Sometimes it helps if I go to the bathroom and other times it doesn't. I'm in the process of getting a diagnosis so I don't know if it's IBD or IBS or both. Such as it is I really can't offer any good advice as I'm a neophyte when it comes to the whole bowel problem thing. :ybatty:
