Hi all,
I've been taking questran light for a couple of years for my crohns. I've just come down with tonsils which, as anyone who's had it knows, is v painful in itself. I'm finding taking the questran more and more painful and impossible as I just can't swallow it, or if I do half of it sticks to my tonsils. I usually mix my powders with water and apple squash, I find this makes the smoothest mixture, but it doesn't seem to be helping at all at the moment :(
Anyone else had this problem? Any tips?
Many thanks

try gargling with apple cider vinegar. If you can, swallow a tsp of it as well. Great antibacterial properties. May help! good luck!

The Questran is so difficult to get down at the best of times. Unfortunately with the inflamed tonsils, it will be next to impossible really!
Tonsilitis is usually viral, and should resolve on it's own. If there is a bacterial cause (streptococcus) they use antibiotics to treat it, as you probably know. (There's a newer treatment called somnoplasty that is now replacing tonsillectomy.)

Hopefully a few days without the Questran will be ok for you?

Hi guys, thanks for replying.
I'll try the Apple cider vinegar thanks.
I may talk to the doctor about having my tonsils removed, I end up with an infection at least once a yr, then the antibiotics completely screw up my digestive system for months. & sadly even one dose of questran can't be missed, so I have to force it down :(
thanks again

may want to add daily yogurt to your diet, as well as probiotics to help you recover from the antibiotics. good luck!
