I was diagnosed not that long ago. Nothing ruins your grade like getting diagnosed with crohn's on the day of your Brit Lit final! Not only was I a complete mess just thinking about the fact that I have this, but I kept having to leave to go to the bathroom :/

We still haven't figured out exactly what foods trigger my symptoms. So far I've been told to remove all seeds/nuts & pretty much any protein but fish from my diet, but that's it. If anyone has any tips or knows of a good crohn's food-blog, please share! I can find them for just about any other digestive problem (candida, gluten free), but I haven't found a a really good one for crohnys!

Hi there! Welcome to the forum!

As for your question for diet, you can't find a specific one because everyone's triggers are different :( Some can't handle gluten, others lactose, and others fibre. You more or less have to learn your trigger foods and stay away from them. I know one trigger that is bad for me is beef. There are various elimination diets that you can try. There is a diet fitness and supplement board here on the forum. Lots of info in there as well as personal experience

when i am flared bad 48 hours of starvation is usually the best fix. short of that, for me it's just common sense. grease, carbonation, alcohol, and anything that seems hard to digest, like raw vegetables, are best avoided.

I handle scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, hot cereals, canned fruit, fruit juices, rice, fish, boiled chicken and pasta pretty well during a flare. otherwise, i dont pay too much attention, just try to eat smart when i can.

Hey ReeSquee, I feel for ya. The eating can be the hardest part, I still mess up and have to get back on track. I love food and am usually hungry so I hate restricting myself.
The first thing I did is start a food journal, or just a list really. It looked like this-
Good: chicken broth, toast, eggs, applesauce, banana, yogurt, chicken, fish, most soups, soft veggies...... Bad: beef, acidic fruit juice, raw veggies, coffee, more than 1 sweet/cookie at once.. and I still add to this list today.
Everyone's different, so just start bland and gradually try things (within reason/small amount) and add it to either list. For blogs and sites I've found alot of good stuff on health food recipe blogs, but also just general ones for comfort food, big chicken casseroles etc.

My 19year old in a flare avoids hot foods- eats small amounts at closer to,room temperature.
Rice, soft chicken, small amounts 1-2 tablespoons/ day of salmon, rice milk,
Egg whites, small amount banana, honey, almond butter. Sips on Pedialyte or Gatorade. No spicy foods, no corn, crackers or cookies. Avoid all, processed foods.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the tips, guys! Strangely, I think my downfall right now might be salads. Something that I always thought was such a healthy choice, and it is actually really hard for me to digest!

I think I might try pulling dairy now and see how I feel. From there I guess I will just keep on eliminating! I hate how little is known about this disease. Every doctors appt just feels like guesswork. I'm waiting for my approval for a specialist right now & crossing my fingers that they can actually help.
