Hi all,

Name is Luke from Australia. Well what a little journey it has been the past 6 months, here's my story:

Since the age of 13 or so I have always had irregular bowel habits that didn't seem to have much to do with stress or diet. But like most I shrugged it off and thought nothing of it.

About 3 months ago (aged 24 now) the real episodes of stomach cramps, vomiting, "D" and the like really hit me like a tonne of bricks. I had just got married, bought land (building house soon), finally got accepted into a life long career and my father was diagnosed with Dimentia within this period so was a very rough time.

Long story short, had a colonoscopy and it confirmed I have mildy active chrons in the terminal illieum and another 20cm further up the small intenstine. Very similar to my sister's chron's.

About 4 weeks ago, once I found out I had chron's, I changed to an IBD diet, stopped stressing about the small things in life and it seems to be working wonders. So far.

Started 50mg Imuran today and the GI is 'confident' of this medication putting me into remission (not sure I am so confident).

I just want to say even though Im a spring chicken to this forum it has been so supportive and informative. I'm glad I came across it and look forward in sharing my ongoing story with Chron's with everyone else.

All the best to everyone.

Note: I have a happy face because it was a relief to finally know what was wrong with me. Other Dr's told me I was gluten intolerant, another said I had IBS and the naturopath told me to belive in god and to stop eating everything I was (on a fitness/lean muscle mass diet).

HI Luke , Welcome to the forum, I am sorry in a way you had to join our community because you have been diagnosised with crohn's. But, at least you have a diagnoisis and caught in the early stages i hope you do well on the medication lmuran and putting yourself in remission. i have crohn's for 21 years now. This forum is very supportive and well knowledged, so if you have any questions just fire away. again nice to meet you. best wishes.

Hi Luke,

Glad your here and thanks for sharing your story. I was also carrying a happy face when I finally received a diagnosis of CD. I finally knew why I was so flippin sick, and now can gather tools to manage it.

I wish the best for you and your health, and stay positive!!

welcome Luke.
I hope your crohn's journey hasn't got too many twists up ahead.
Diagnosis is one of the best things that can happen, the Doc's can now give you proper help.

Hi Luke! I understand how you can be "happy" about your diagnosis. Of course, no one wants Crohn's, but it is nice to get answers and to know what exactly is going on with your body.

I hope Imuran does the trick. Remember, it can take up to 3 months to fully work, so you may need to be patient. Good luck!

Hi Luke or should it be g'day mate? :)

Glad you're looking on the positive side and that you have a recent diagnosis. I have mild crohns too but beleive me without proper control and medical supervision it can knock you for six if you ignore it. Stress is definitely a trigger for most including myself.

Yes this site is a great place to find and give information and I think we all share the same views and have an interest in finding out how it effects as all a bit differently but also to share the common symptoms, good or bad times with others.

Welcome aboard and let us know how you get on with the meds.

Thanks everyone for the comments :)

I just cant believe how common IBD can be but people still ask what Chron's is because they've have never heard of it.

I'll let you guys know how Imuran goes, I like to stay positive, I'll keep counting the days I am not affected.

Think I too will be happy when some kind of diagnosis happens... Especially if it's just a really extreme stomach bug!
