Rectal crohns

Hi Mark74!
I have Crohn's which is mainly rectal. They thought I had UC, but a scope found a couple of other patches, so confirmed it as Crohn's, and as far as I know it is only in my colon. I'm currently on oral Pentasa and rectal salofalk, but am waiting for a prescription to start on Mezavant next week. Although very mild, every time I try to cut out the suppositories I start bleeding again, and so I guess the Pentasa isn't getting far enough, and the Mesavant will hopefully do this as it is really aimed at UC which of course starts rectally and spreads upwards. I was told that even though I technically have Crohn's, my actual symptoms are those of UC and so should be treated that way. Fingers crossed.
I was only diagnosed in November and so I have limited knowledge, especially of any other drug groups as I have not needed them (yet!). I'll do my best to answer any questions, but I'm sure there will be others with more experience than me who can help.

Hello. 
My GI has never actually said where my Crohns is. I do have a peri-rectal abscess and fistula. :/ good luck!!

Some people are given suppositories to help I believe. I take Asacol right now and am supposed to start Remicaid soon. I also take Cipro and Flagyl for my abscess/fistula.
Yup- I've had rectal involvement over the years.....from active disease to fistulas and fissures...

Sucks doesn't it Paso?
my only inflammation is in the last inch of my rectum. i never had any intestine or colon issues. on remicade, but i have a fistula coming right from that area.

I do. Only in that area although I do get minor tummy troubles aswell.

When I had my scope they said my rectum was inflamed......I wonder if I'm getting it there also? I constantly have pain in my anus feel it constrict a lot. Is this how it starts? It hurts whether I go a lot or just 5 times
