Well today was Annie's (Janis) endo to check her choking problem. She did good and I'm very much relieved. There was a little bit of a web in her throat so we caught it before it got bad again. Also was some inflamation in her esophgus (?) as well as her stomach. My GI took some biopsies to check for Celics, but she's confident that she doesn't have it.
Not surprised about the inflamation with all the worrying she does about me and bills. Surprised she doesn't have an ulcer.
Can't keep her down though cause see made me go shopping with her afterwards. Ugh.

That is wonderful Pirate - I must have missed that she was having issues. My oldest daughter has choking issues - has had them for over 8 years now and she is super hesitant to get scoped. They have done a barium swallow test about 5 years ago and it came back normal. Would you mind sharing Janis' symptoms? Maybe their issue is similar. I just worry about her - it happens intermittently, but when it happens, everything she eats comes back up and she said it hurts really bad. :O( Sorry - didn't mean to hijack your thread - was just curious for information. Glad she is doing well!

Hi Peaches, what Janis was experiance was called a web. It is a web like ring that develops in the esphogus ?. It actually is a ring that encircled the inside and narrowed the passageway. She would be eating and it would suddenly go down and be stuck at that spot. I had done the Hiemlik ? on her several times. She had the endo done about 2 yrs ago and it was quite severe. They inflated a balloon and that basicly spreads it and breaks it up. This time it wasn't anywhere near as bad, but we knew what was going on this time. Just a normal endo and it is worth looking into for your daughter's sake. I worried so much about janis cause most of the time when working she is by herself, cleaning houses.
Good luck with your daughter's problem.

Thank you Pirate. Her issue is she will be eating something (seems to happen more with dry type foods like bread and meat) and suddenly she is just sitting very still and looking down and you know it is "happening". She waits a minute or so to see if the spasms will stop and usually they don't, so she runs to the bathroom and basically has to throw up to get it to clear because no amount of trying will get it to go down - it will only come up. Luckily she has NEVER choked where she couldn't breath. That would only happen one time with her and I'd have her scoped asap - I wouldn't be dilly dallying around with that! She has been diagnosed with GERD (none of the meds worked) and with anxiety (have NO idea how that could pertain to choking on your food - but oddly she does seem to have more of these types of attacks during stressful periods), but I still think she needs a scope to "see" what is there. My GI doc did mention the possibility of webs to me before. OK - time to quit putting it off and just do it sounds like......thanks for sharing the info and glad it wasn't as bad for her as before!
