remicade advice?

Hi everyone! I have been recently diagnosed with Crohn's and have been on Prednisone for awhile now but now my GI is thinking the next step is remicade. I just was wondering what your experiences have been with taking the medication. good or bad! I am 20 years old and am studying to be a special education teacher, I am super busy working in schools and on my own studies and I guess I am most worried about the side effects and how that will interfere with my daily life. I know its different for everybody, but I am curious about other people's experiences. Thanks !

I can share my experience, which has been good! I was put on remicade and 6MP when I got my diagnosis, a year ago. Besides diarrhea, I also had 3 fissures, a fistula, an abscess, and erythema nodosum. Within days the erythema nodosum nodules stopped popping up (it took a while for the existing ones to disappear though). My fistula stopped draining after a few weeks, and my fissures healed. (The abscess was treated beforehand with antibiotics). Within a few months, my D had decreased drastically. Now I usually only go to the bathroom once or twice a day. I have had some hives that may or may not be related to remicade, but other than that no problems. I haven't gotten sick more often, although I do think my colds linger a few more days. I feel great, and am grateful for every good day I have! Good luck!
