remicade....here i come!!!
ok i'm really not as excited about it as the title would lead you to believe!!! but this is a VERY big step for me, I have been med-free for 6+ years and my luck has run out...at my appt today we decided remicade would be good for me to try. I have crohns, multiple fistulsas & hidradentitis suppurative (also known as HS) and remicade has been shown to help all these. So I've got many different feeling running through me now...fear & hope to name a few.
My doctor will start me on cipro a few days proir to my first injection which will be august 26th @ 9am because I do have open/draining HS related fistulsas but both my surgen & GI feel comfortable starting me on remicade even with these "things" going on, so please say a prayer for me!
What can I expect to happen during my 1st dose/injection? They told me it will take all day, you must start slow to watch for reactions? How will I feel during and after? Will I be sick to my stomach or groggy or anything? I'm very much nervous but at the same time I'm somewhat excited as well, I have lived with this pain from the HS for along time that its become "normal" for me and I cannot even begin to imagine what it feels like not to hurt everyday!
I go for my TB test tomorrow have it read friday then back to Cleveland Clinic on the 26th to start. Wish me well!!
