When I was immediately post op from panproctocolectomy I started getting a bad right side flank 'stitch' like pain along with searing back pain and leg numbness. Surgeon said flank pain and numb leg most likely from retractor and back pain well not sure. ( I do have a back pain history of 2 ruptured lumbar discs from years on prednisone), also have history of large pelvic abscess on 2 occasions that were accompanied by searing back pain.

Anyhow after a CT showing pelvic fluid collection, surgeon decided flank pain due to collection. Funny thing is in the past few days(10 weeks post op) have had twinges of flank pain return, and tonight it is like a big stitch and feels like it is cramping up very painful. The pain is in exactly same spot as when in hospital. I have also been getting the searing back pain, which is relieved when my back wound has a bleed. My original wound breakdown is healing well, but the bleeding is coming from higher on the incision line.

I have a GP appointment tomorrow morning but am really scared. The pain in my side makes me ball up and I can't move until it eases off.

Made it to GP appointment today, am on antibiotics while waiting to get to Adelaide for a sinogram and CT and an appointment with my regular GI surgeon. Gastro and GP believe I have a reoccurrence of a pelvic abscess that I suffered with for a long time. I remember having a 6 week hospital stay with theatre every second day to insert a draining catheter that would just fall out next BM. Also was on a regime of antibiotics thru pic line.

Hopefully wont be that full on, at least it wont fall out from BM anymore. If I am really lucky it won't be the above and just a small blip on the radar. Have also been given some pain meds and told to rest.

Will let you know how I get on, but at this stage won't really know much for a week or two, depending on appointment availability.

Well that just sucks! I would have hoped you would have gotten rid of all that from the surgery! So sorry. :stinks:
