Risks of cancer when taking 6MP and Remicade?

Hey everyone

I'm started Remicade a couple months ago, and I'm also on 6pm. I know lymphoma, or some form of cancer, is a risk, especially for being on both drugs at once. It really is scary to think that I could beat crohns but then pass from an aggressive form of cancer I know that it has happened before. I was wondering what the actual chance of someone getting cancer while being on 6mp and remicade at the same time.

Hello Fishylove - probably a difficult question to answer. I have been on remacaid for a few years and was on 6mp for a while also (it didn't agree with me). I can tell you that I asked the same questions and wrestled w similar concerns. The remacaid has definatley improved my life, for the most part stayed out of hospitals, had a lot less pain and no more surgeries. The best I can tell you is to ask lots of questions to your doctors and make sure you get the information you need to be comfortable with the treatment plan. I have found that the more informed I am on the plan the less time I spend worrying and creating anxiety for myself. Not an answer but can only share my experience and sometimes it's good to know others are and have been in similar spots.
