so, i've had crohns for a little over a year now, im19 now. it was never as severe as it is now and i never thought of anything too serious, but i still ate healthy most of the time to help my stomach. ive been on so many medicines and my crohns is getting pretty severe. i so scared and i dont have any family who understandso did and i wish i had friends wh. im going to start cimzia soon, its bad enough i get sick all the time and my immue system will be weaker. i just found out that my eyes are now being effected, the whites swell up they hurt. is there any way i can help my crohns from severe to mild? does anyone have diet suggests? im terrified and honetly i feel alone.

I'm only after being diagnosed myself but I know I've had it over a year nearly two, its only recently its started to get worse. I know the feeling of looking to the future and wondering. But you're not alone, there's others out there like you who suffer like you do. I'm starting treatment soon myself and honestly I'm terrified of the side effects. Its hard :( I understand your pain but I'm sorry I have no suggestions on diet. I just wanted to lend my support.

Could you try something like Entocort (another steroid besides Prednisone, unless you're ok with Prednisone) to go along with the Cimzia to help reduce the current inflammation while the Cimzia gets a chance to start working? What other meds have you tried in the past? Often times its the combination of meds that help gain remission. Only diet I was really on was the low residue diet. http://www.crohnsforum.com/wiki/Low-Residue-Diet Its low fiber, salt, fat (butter, oil etc) and minimal amounts of spice. With veggies you can just remove the skins and seeds (seeds and nuts contain a lot of fiber and humans can't digest it) and steam them. There are a lot of options really with this diet. Just pick something you like to eat like lasagna and make it low residue friendly.

There's not enough results of people entering remission with diet alone but a healthy diet is good for you with IBD or not and may help you to at least have less symptoms while the medication does its job.

Right now I am on imuran and it reduses the pain to where I can manage through my day. I was on remicade for about 6 months, but then I can an allergic reation and sent me to the emergency room. I didn't know that combinations can help gain remission. Thank you for the information and thank you so much for the diet tip and information.

I'm sorry that you're going through something similar as I am, thank you for your support and wish you luck with your treatment. what treatment are you starting, if you don't mind me asking.

I honestly have no idea what I'll be on yet, it all depends on the results of my barium follow through and how extensive the inflammation is. I'll find out soon enough I guess :) thanks for the support.
