Severe sore throat

Hi,

I've been on prednisone for a while now, starting on 25mg and going down by 5's every week. Yesterday I was tapered down to 5.

For a few days I've been experiencing a severe soar. It's so bad, even when I'm not eating or drinking it's still very painful. I've also noticed my ears are a bit sore.

I dismissed it as a virus or something, but I'm beginning to think it's the prednisone.

Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? Should I go see my GP, or ring the specialist? Or will it just go away?

I think you should because you aren't doing a crazy taper. Why suffer? Let the dr figure it out.

I just think that if I see my GP, she'll just say keep an eye on it or something or say there's nothing she can do for it.

I went to the doctor today, only for her to tell me that she thinks it's a virus. At least she checked my throat and there didn't seem to be anything ugly going on down there. It's just a pain when you have to fork out the money for it. But all well, at least I know what it is.

She did give me antibiotics in case it's not a virus, which she told me to take if it doesn't improve in the next couple of days.

I guess it's back to drinking honey water and hoping it goes away!
