severe stomach pain and vomiting is this linked to chrohns

Hi

Last night i suffered with severe stomach pains and vomiting, i ended up having to go to an out of hours doc for painkillers. I wonder if this has affected anyone else it feels different to my usual pain for chrohns and only seems to last one night. It has happened 3 times now in the last 18 mths, i also get feverish, the pain comes in waves and is pretty intense the first time they gave me morphine in hospital. I have had an ultrasound for gall stones but it didn't show anything. I'm just getting a little worried as it was about 12 mths between the first two attacks but only 6 mths between this last one.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Keep a food diary for a while. It could be something you are eating that causes you a problem. Onions and Malt cause me a pile of trouble. I never made the connection until the last couple of years.

I agree with Dan. The other issue with vomiting and pain is that it's usually linked with obstruction like issues. Pain killers don't help as they slow down your digestion as well. I'm not saying don't take them, we all need some help sometimes but be aware of the problems they can cause.

I would suggest if you feel something like this coming along again immediately switch to a liquid diet until the symptoms subside.

Yes,you should be careful of obstructions. The meds you are taking may cause this also. When I was on high dose of Imuran,I started vomiting every week or so, and it turned out from blood tests that it caused me liver toxicity.....

Thanks i was worried it may be something like obstructions as it was at it's worst when i wasn't on any meds so my intestines would have been worse than they are now, i think. My last blood test was ok although i had a low white blood cell count and anaemia but nothing too unusual, liver toxicity sounds pretty scary hope your ok now.

I suffer from really bad pain in general in the abdom area. The worst area is the upper right side, and it seems to get worse when I lay down. I had a Dr tell me it was a gravity issue, when I lay down my internal organs are shifting and I got the "turtle on its back" image in my mind. Needless to say, I don't do alot of sleeping untill my body just sortta gives out on me due to this issue. I am actually scared that if something happened to my liver or apendix, I'd most likely ignore it just because I have so many sharp pains in this general area so I dont have alot of advise, but I can really relate! Hope things get better, keep us up to date with it.

Partial bowel obstruction

I had this a lot until I was on Remecaid for a few months. They are probably partial bowel obstructions. Mine hurt for awhile then my stomach gets loud as it slowly starts to pass. Then I am in the bathroom with diarrhea for a while. A few times it hurt bad enough and/or I couldn't stop puking so I went to the ER.

The Remicaid has worked wonders so far. I tried a few other medicines for a while, but none have worked as well as the Remicaid.
