Hello everyone! I am a rare disease person-I have had a Desmoid tumor and do not have Crohns, however I hope I might get an answer here.
If you are living without your ileocecal valve, do you have an issue with severely low LDL cholesterol and What can be done to improve it?
In 2016 I had a mesenteric Desmoid tumor removed with bowel resection (Ileocecal Valve, cecum and appendix removed too).
My LDL cholesterol before surgery was 124. Five months after surgery it was 33. Have not had levels checked in 2017 yet. At recent check up with my GP, he advised this could be an early sign of cancer..however, might be because I no longer have the ICV. He wants me to have a second opinion on a benign thyroid nodule I've had for 10 yrs, says they can change over time. Follow up bloodwork will be done before my next appointment in 6 months. In the mean time, I want to be more informed on this health issue of severely low LDL cholesterol.
So, if anyone here could help me better understand..if you are without an ICV, do you also have severely low LDL cholesterol? What do you supplement with? What type of healthcare professional helped you with your diet to raise this to a better level? Thank you in advance and I appreciate any input you may have!
