Hi I am new to the site and forum. It actually is not myself but my boyfriend who suffers IBD he has had 15' of his small intestine removed through surgery and is on medication. However my question is kind of intimate and personal but I wondered if any other males here have ever suffered a similar side effect. When he is on his meds and taking them regularly he runs into the problem of being unable to finish. Hope you understand that. If he runs out of his meds and is off them for a few days then he has no problems at all. If someone else has had this same issue please le t me know how you fixed it. Whether you changed meds or if there was another way to help. He is too shy to speak to his doctor and he won't let me tag along and ask myself. I don't think this problem can possibly be good for him. It's got to lead to other problems eventually if it persists. At least I would think so. Please help if possible. And I would also appreciate any other info about the disease that you can give me. Anything he might not have told me or research online has informed me of. I wish to be as helpful to him in any way possible. Thanks so much.

Hi
This is probably more common than you think. I have has this problem for a while and its nothing to worry about . I think just the fact that hes taking medication is going to have a effect on his libido. I find that it dulls the sex drive and things may take longer to finish but I also think its the thought of not being able to finish or feeling of god i need to hurry up. this can cause the same problems .
It can be very frustrating for both parties. But look sometimes the earth doesnt have to move in order to enjoy being intimate and the less pressure to finish may actually help matters .
I have discussed this with my partner as she though i had gone off her and I think we have a more relaxed attitude to sex now . You know having IBD will maybe not reduce your sex drive but it will definitly determine when you feel like it . So maybe if you talk about it and like me justr be open and say i m having a bad day but then make the effort when your feeling good .
I hope this helps as it has for me.

Thanks and I have never made him feel rushed to finish or like something is wrong. I do however feel very bad for him. I was afraid it might lead to what is commonly referred to as blue balls not to be crude. We are definitely intimate and it's often I understand when he has bad days and doesn't feel up to and that's perfectly fine. I was just worried about him never coming to the point of completion. The meds make it difficult and I was concerned for his health because of it. bit thanks so much.

Hi do you know what meds he's taking? The reason I ask is I was on an anti depressant due to my crohns and it had this effect could bang like a porn star but no money shot lol.

Big truck yes one of his meds is an anti depressant and that is exactly the issue he bangs like a pron star but no money shot unless he's off his meds for a few days. Did you find a different anti depressant that didn't have that side effect. And for my other new friend I think a man can explain blue balls better then I but it stems from being aroused multiple times but not getting to finsish the satisfaction. Thanks for the help and I will get him to ask his doctor about a different anti depressant or possibly to possibly stop prescribing them as he is definitely no longer depressed. In fact he told me recently he has never been happier. So I consider myself a very lucky girl. He is a sweet, funny nerd and I adore him and just don't want to see him suffering if I can do anything to help

He is very lucky to have you. I had that problem and found out I had low testosterone due to longterm steroid use. When they identified the problem I started taking testosterone injections and that helped greatly. Don't know if that's the problem but it's worth checking into. Good luck to both of you!

Him not being depressed could very well be the result of taking an anti depressant. So if I were him I'd talk to my doctor about the inability to climax as it is a common side effect with anti depressants (I'm female and had the same issue while on many different ones such as Effexor and Prozac, never found one that worked for me though, I use anxiety meds now like Xanax) before stopping completely. Always talk to your doctor before stopping any medications as the meds could be what's making you feel fine in the first place.

What medications is he taking for Crohn's? Or any other meds?

Here's where it gets personal. Is he having difficulty climaxing during masturbation or while you use your hand or if its done orally or is it just vaginal? If he doesn't have difficulty climaxing with those then experimenting with different things may benefit him for now.

It could also be an issue with him being in pain during intercourse or having the urge to use the bathroom since he does have diarrhea and frequency.

He has trouble climaxing in anyway. It doesn't matter what way we are trying to help him. There is one position that if he is able to climax then he does but even that doesn't help all the time though I have no idea what pill he takes for the crohn's though I have never seen the bottle and he has never told me. Thanks for the advice
