I'm scheduled for a Sig on friday. How terrible is it? I've had a Colonoscopy before.........what's the difference?

I have had a few flex sigs. The first I did with local anesthesia, because I read some horror stories from those who did the procedure without. However, I have done several others without meds, and it wasn't bad at all. A bit uncomfortable, but manageable. Granted, I assume if you have a lot of active disease it could be a bit more painful. But I wouldn't stress over it. It's only takes a few minutes.

Good luck and let us know how it goes on Friday!

Oh, and the difference between a flex sig and colonoscopy is the flex sig only sees up to the sigmoid (last 1/3 of your colon); a colonoscopy sees your entire colon and terminal ileum.

Yeah I had one last year in the hospital, I could still feel it even tho he gave me drugs, but not as heavy as a colonoscopy. Just ask for drugs, most do. Let us know how it goes.
