Hi i've just been diagnosed with possible crohns,

I've had a lot of symptoms for many years i'm not sure if they are all connected with crohns.

One of my most worst symptoms is sinus, eye and head pain. the pain is so severe I can't concentrate on a thing.

I was wondering if anyone here has suffered any symptoms like this and if medication helped it go away?

Thanks
moose.

Moose - have you ever been checked for sinus issues, such as cysts ni your sinuses? I have them, and although my ENT said they aren't a problem, I do know that I get clogged up easily, and when I do get a cold/sinus infection the pain scomes on a lot quicker. In fact, I just finished a course of antibiotics for a really nasty sinus infection!

I never had so many headaches before in my life. Before I was diagnosed with crohn's, I had a headache for a year everyday around 5 pm like clockwork. I also got runny nose which I never had before and eye irritations and pain too behind my eyes, like pressure. I take tylenol almost everyday for headaches now and still they just don't ever go away completely. It is so annoying. I did have a catscan to make sure there is no tumors. So, it must all be from crohn's. Sorry you are suffering. I do use saline mist up my nose and it helps alot. Try that too.:ghug:

I've been to several ENT doctors and had an MRI scan of my sinuses but nothing comes up, I drain my sinuses with a netti pot daily for a few months it helped temporarily after draining them but would go back to normal. I'm thinking this may be crohns related.

It's so frustrating Ive had this horrible pain for 2 years now its drives me insane. I've only just started crohns treatment so don't know if there's any change. I've never tried immuno suppressants yet.

You should consider getting looked at by an ENT (Ear, nose and throat doctor).

I used to have the same thing. They took a scope and looked around all three areas. I don't know if I could contribute it to crohn's fully but I will admit they did get bad around the time I started getting more overt crohn's symptoms. The prednisone for crohn's might have helped me out a bit. Also because I managed to avoid allergy season while on steroids. Any seasonal allergies make my sinuses and sinus headaches feel even worse.

How did you get rid of the sinus pain? I would do anything to just get some relif it's ruining my life. I've already seen 4 ENT doctors who haven't found anything.

They have discovered that neti pots unless cleaned out well all the time can actually cause infection from bacteria. So make sure you clean it with soapy water often. The saline bottle, I rinse under faucet after each use.

I have also tried neti pots and they helped some. I take baths and showers with a few drops of eucalyptus oil, I do a face steam and put my face over bowls of hot water, cover my head with a towel and inhale the steam and if things are really rough I resort to sinus and migrane pills (but i do my best to avoid those because they help but not always). I also make sure I am treating my allergies properly during allergy season. I get a prescription for singular which is another immune suppressor and take a 24 hour zyrtec. That usually helps me out...other than that I just honestly have to wait it out.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking for more of a long term solution. I really can't figure the cause of this. Without it getting better I'm gonna find it difficult to ever work.

have you tried any other immuno suppressives which have helped with your eye pain or sinus pain? the doctor says he might try me on Azathioprine to help control my symptoms.
