I wanted to see if anyone has experienced this. I have had Crohn's off and on forever. This last bout I flared for 6 years. Nothing worked enough to get me into complete remission until Remicade. One week after my 2nd infusion I woke up one Saturday morning to one beautiful poop. Just one after going 5-10 times a day for years. Then, I stopped pooping. After about 5 days of no pooping, I will have these horrendous cramps and will poop until it all comes out. This is a horrible painful experience that causes fissures and I never feel completely empty. So I go to my doc and tell him what's going on. I tell him I am worried about a partial blockage. He shrugs off my concerns and tells me that after all the years of being inflamed my colon has gone to sleep. He says to try this over the counter stuff that pulls water into the colon. I am still a no go after several days. So he prescribes Lizness which is a heavier than normal water pulling inner. That does the trick, makes pooping not so traumatizing, and I am to take it as needed. I have been all over these boards to see if anyone else has had a colon go to sleep and cannot find anything. Thoughts?

I tried looking up to see if people have mentioned it on other websites, and they say that a sleeping colon is something that usually happens after a surgery, and is referred to as ileus. Maybe by searching that, you might find more answers?

I have this from being undiagnosied for so long and I have been fighting to get my BM's backto normal, I am also on linzess and now they ordered another one (cant recall name)as I had a flex sig today for rectal pain and that was clean! My GI thinks the rectal pain is from bruising and being so backed up because the movement of my GI tract was affected for so long it is taking time to "wake up" GI also mentioned could be nerve damage from my crohns that affected my parastalsis from helping move my bowels, so I went from going prior to dx 6-20x per day to not being able to go on my own without help from a stimulant of some sort! They are hoping in time this will resolve! I hope it dose resolve for you, just hang in there and follow the regime they give you, you will be in my thoughts and prayers

PS. Example had flex sig today. For me to get clear enough, 3 fleet enemas, 4 dulcelax and 1 linzess and I am still going it is after midnight and my stool is now just watery, but not clear so I know I must have another hour or so of going... But tomorrow, yes.... I will be exhausted and drinking like there may be a shortage of water~ lol. But, that is how bad I get.
I wish you the best! Once I am finally done going I will have to take a Tylenol because the pain is getting worse :ybatty:
