About 6 weeks ago, I received a letter with my pre op and surgery dates. I failed to read that I was supposed to call them when I got the letter to accept or reject the appointments... My pre op appt is this Tuesday. I plan to call first thing Monday morning, less than 24hrs before the pre op appt was scheduled. I'm just really concerned that thanks to me being stupid and not reading the letter properly, I have lost my pre op appt and surgery date. Do you think that if I called tomorrow morning first thing, I still might be ok or do you think I have stuffed up big time? I'm just so angry at myself.

I am in Adelaide Australia and am on the public waiting list for the QEH if that helps...

I honestly have no idea. I imagine they might have called you to see if you were canceling so they could give the slot to someone else. All you can really do now is give a call and hope for the best. Hope they didn't drop you. :)

So I called the number on my letter this morning the second they opened... They didn't cancel anything and my pre op appt and surgery are going ahead as planned :D I am one very lucky ducky!

Hey guys, just a quick update...
I went in for my non cutting seton stitch on Tuesday, the surgeon was unaware I had crohn's and was planning on doing a fistulectomy but decided with that in mind, cutting into my sphincter wasn't a good idea. When I came around I was told no stitch was placed and they just cut out the fistula and I had no abcesses even though that's what the MRI showed and I could feel them myself. When I went to leave I was given some instructions on how to care for a rubber band ligation... I managed to have a look the other day and there is no stitch, no rubber band and by the looks of it, nothing has been done that I can clearly see. I had a feel around while in the bath and could feel that the fistula that had already split on its own had just been extended up into the anal canal. So still not really sure what they did and can't get an appointment with the surgeon for another 6 weeks to find out for sure. Has this ever happened to anyone before??

Oh that doesn't sound very good and haven't got any advice for you sorry. I just wish you well and hope they sort you out for good when you go bk. get well soon x

I believe a report should be send to your gp. I call or make appointment with gp, get them to confirm they have received the report and chase if neccessary.
