Hi,

I have been diagnosed with CD for about 6 years now and would say I have a mild case. I was on Humira for a few years but stopped a year ago due to the "cancer" risk, albeit small and getting permanent dark patches at the injection sites. I was flare free until a few months ago and also developed a fistula last October that has been repaired with surgery and not given me any complications since March. Currently I am on 40 mg of Prednisone and painkillers since I am experiencing stomach pain. The Prednisone has not helped with the pain but has helped with me running to the restroom. I'm now having 1-2 normal BM's a day. However, I definitely do not want to stay on the Prednisone. My GI has been asking me to research other treatments such as Entyvio, Remicade or Cimzia. All of these scare me but I know I have to do something. I have tried medical marijuana before in the form of edibles. I definitely did not like the "high" because I have family and a small child and I have to work as well. I mainly used the edibles before I went to sleep to help with the pain and sleeplessness. I'm am currently considering obtaining a MM card since it is legal in my area but would like to find some form of MM to use during the day that gives me the relief but not the "high". Also, does MM help with the inflammation as well as the pain? Any advice at all will be greatly appreciated as I'd like to make a decision this week. TIA!

I have not tried marijuana yet but i have spent alot of time researching it so here is some info that may help.

One option to consider is vaporizing. A few months back someone contacted me and said he uses marijuana with a vaporizer and does not get high. I previously believed that a vaporizor would be hot enough to convert(decarboxylate) non psychoactive THCa into the psychoactive THC form which gets people high, as its the heat which converts THCa into the psychoactive form. So i looked a little harder for real science to back this guy up and found this article in high times: http://www.hightimes.com/read/studying-vaporizer-insight-proper-vape-use
they analyzed the cannabinoids coming out of the vaporizer at different temps and found that if vaporized below 200 celsius(392 F), the THCa levels were higher, so decarboxylation wasn't complete. there is a temperature control on vaporizors so you can set the temp.

So its possible this guy was telling me the truth and it's worth a shot to try smoking it this way so you don't get high. Another option is ingesting nondecarboxylated hash oil.

Thanks so much for your reply :) I did obtain my MM card last week and the employees at the dispensary were very knowledgeable and helpful thankfully since I had not idea what to purchase!! She recommended some chocolate bars and some tablets for both the pain and to help me sleep. After experimenting a few days, I found that 7.5 mg of the chocolate really helps me sleep wonderfully and during the day 7.5 mg of the tablets allows me to function both at home and at work with far less of a "high" than my prescription painkillers would give me. For the past week, I can't believe how much my pain has been reduced! It could be all to the MM or to the combination of supplements I've started taking as well: Boswelia, Turmeric, L-Glutamine, Papaya Tablets, Probiotics, Lecithin and Aloe Vera Gel shots. Either way, I'll take this over the other doctor prescribed treatments any day!! Hoping this glimmer of hope keeps coming!!
