I could only tolerate a fruit cup and some popcorn for dinner tonight. I saw my Gastro doc on monday and they put me on Zantac/Prilosec to try and quell the nausea but hey..what do ya know..it's not working!

I really hate nausea. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a prescription for naseau called phenegren (sp).
Someone on here takes it in times of extreme nausea, and they say it works really well.
I just tried to look it up but I really don't know how to spell it. And the one thing that came up said it's not available in the US, but I know it is, so... sorry if that doesn't help at all.

wifey always gave me little ginger drinks (like hot water with ginger) to help with nausea. helped a little, maybe try that?

yeah sipping ginger ale helps me usually.

but i agree with mbh, kittee. why dont you look into an anti-nausea med?
from the number of times youve posted about the nausea it seems like it gets you pretty bad. maybe just a simple reliever like that would take the edge off?

and wait why dd he give you zantac/prilosec? i thought that was acid reflux meds, not for nausea?

I've taken this when I had food pois. & then when my symptoms from Crohns flared back in Aug, when they did not know what I had. It is FANTASTIC, but in many cases, it knocks you out for 4 hours at a time. So I could only take it when I was ready for a nice nap.

does gravol do anything for you? when i am in the hospital for a flare, they give me that every 4 hours, it helps a bit. or maxoran, but that can affect your bowels, i believe.

Ginger tea is awesome. You can get the commercial variety for convenience, but even better is to add a teaspoon of fresh shavings to hot water.

Haha, one time I OD'd on prochlorperazine/Compazine because I was feeling so nauseous. It was the weirdest thing. It made my neck and tongue have spasms. So my neck was stuck in one position, and my tongue was stuck in another. I looked like a freak and it hurt. At least the benedryl fixed it.

Naturally, I take promethazine instead now. I like it much better. :3

Kittee - That is really awful about your nausea. I think nausea is just the worst...I have used Phenergan (correct spelling) before and it did work well but knocked me out. I think Compazine knocked me out, too. Promethazine is the generic form of Phenergan. Also there is Zofran, which seems to work pretty well, and doesn't make me sleepy. You may ask your doctor for a script for one of these. Good luck.
