I am in my last week of prednisolone on 5mg and have been recommended by my doctor to start a course of Azathioprine, however I really struggle with taking tablets. For my prednisolone, I was given a soluble version which I managed fine and has really helped me feel better at a very important time as I have just moved to university last month!
I haven't heard of a soluble version of Aza, but was wondering if there was anyone else that had this problem and knew of a solution? I am keen to take Azathioprine as the thought of another attack of Crohn's is scary as it would put my studies at real jeopardy! :(

Hi Natalia,

Glad the preds are doing their thing for you! Aza is good if it works for you. I had it for years with pretty much no side affects. As far as I know you can't get it in soluble form. Something to do with it's physical properties unlike the preds. It was a few years ago I found that out so things may have changed.

I used to have huge problems with tablets when I was a kid I couldn't even swallow an asprin without heaving over the sink but now I can take handfulls of them at a time without even blinking.

If you've just joined this club I reckon it's something you too will get very good at.

JK
