solumedrol

Has anyone ever had the steroid solumedrol and if so what were your experiences? Thanks!

Gab has had this several times before, but only as an IV injection, and very high doses, while she was hospitalized. It worked wonders for the short term the doctors wanted it for. Whenever she was released she was then prescribed prednisone for home use.

Just had some yesterday!.....get it IV when I go for my remicade....don't notice any side effects from it....

I get it with my remicade as well. Never heard of it so just thought id ask around :) I also get iv benadryl and I noticed that it made my vein burn all the way up my arm and it hurt everytime they flushed after that.

I get solu-cortef which is another steroid. It cortizone based where solumedrol is prednisone based. It makes me hungry and hyper. I get 100 mg with my remicade.

If you dont like the iv benedryl ask if you can take oral benedryl 30 min before your appt.

I've had solumedrol while in hospital, and then oral prednisone once I was released...
If you're having the solumedrol before your remicade, I'd imagine that's the same idea as me taking prednisone prior to my Humira shot. Do you know what your dosage is?

For awhile whenever I was in the hospital I was given solumedrol. It worked while I was there but I've always had issues transitioning back to prednisone.

The last few stays not directly related to the colitis I would ask to not be placed on IV but to continue with the pred at whatever dose they saw fit.

xoxava - make sure they dilute the benadryl before injecting it! I learned hte hard way here - it still burns, but not as bad or for as long.....someone else here told me it souldn't be administered 'straight'.....the first time I had it I had a nice red line going up my forearm along my vein - it burned that much!
