Yeah... I have no idea what this is... I have a bad case of hemeroids right now and a fissure and ??? These sores that are climbing upward. They are patchy, very red and slightly raised. I would say they've come up about 2" from the top of my crack to the underwear line. Bad enough that my wife noticed when I took my shirt off.

Any ideas or experience with something like this?

Thinking I may need to go to the doctor with this one... But I don't have a clue what it is. I've had Crohns for a long time and I've never had anything that looked like this.

Not sure I can be helpful but a few things come to mind
It could be an infection of some kind or drug reaction.
Best to ask for some help from your doctor and make it sooner than later, these things can get hard to treat.
Feel better soon

I agree with Trysha on this.....sounds like you should make an appt to be seen before it gets any worse.

I'm afraid you might be right about it being an infection. It is very red. Made an appointment, hopefully I get an answer on Monday.

Thanks!

How did your appointment go? I had the same thing and went to the doctor yesterday and they said it was another fistula forming.

Hey Brittany- turns out it was a fistula after all, with a lot of badly infected skin around it. It was starting to look like a raised bruise or welt and hurt like crazy. Doc put me on Cipro and Flagyl for 2weeks... And entocort for the flare, and imuran again... Ah it was so nice when it was just Remicade every 6weeks!

I'm new to fistulas... I had thought I was only going to get strictures-at least that is what my first GI said. It's very unpleasant...

Oh no :-( Yea, fistulas are nasty buggers. Pop over to our sub-forum if you have time. We've got a fair bit of information on there about fistulas and plenty of people who will sympathise and supply advice if you need it.
Are you not on the Remicade any more and do you think this might be why the fistula has formed? The Cipro/Flagyl combo is a pretty potent one, so hopefully it will knock it on the head.

Still on Remicade, just had all the others added on. My Crohns has been fairly well controlled for a few years with minor episodes here and there thanks to Remicade. But my case has been a tough one in general...

Big flares are really hard for me to calm down and I refuse to go back on pred. I had serious anger issues on the prednisone, almost psychotic at times and very uncharacteristic mood swings.... I'm generally a very even-keeled person.

Hopefully the combo I'm on now will do the trick, but it's much slower waiting to see results whereas pred is almost immediate.

I'll come check out the fistula forum because I have no idea what I'm dealing with right now!
