For the past few weeks I've been getting sores on my tongue. It seems like as soon as one goes away I get another one in a different spot. I've never had this before so of course I asked Dr. Google and the Internet says it could be related to the UC. Does anyone else get them? Anything I can do to make them go away or stop getting them? Thanks!

I have Crohn's, not UC, so I'm not sure on that aspect....but when I had very low iron levels I would get sores on my tongue. I know intestinal bleeding is common in our diseases, so you should check with your doctor. It could be from iron deficiency associated with anemia/blood loss.

Or it could be something completely different...like sour skittles. :) Just thought I would offer my past experiences. Good luck!

My kid (with crohns) doesn't get them on tongue, just inside her mouth. Me, I get them, normally near my time of the month if I haven't been increasing the iron. I don't have IBD, but I have been anemic since I was a kid.

I often get mouth sores when my Crohn's is flaring. They can be on my tongue, gums, roof of my mouth, throat, etc. Yes, they are painful and they can linger on for a while. I am struggling with a flare of them right now as a matter of fact. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything that helps treat them with the exception of trying to treat the inflammation of your disease. When I get a flare of them I do my best to avoid inflammatory foods and eat things I know are healing for my body.

They are a result of the inflammation in your body so it's difficult to treat them without addressing the root cause. For me, following a Paleo style diet has helped reduce the frequency of mouth sores, but I do still get them when my Crohn's is flaring.

They are miserable and I totally understand what you're going through.
