Hi folks
I started on Aza ( Imuran ) about a month ago - I'm 5ft ( 152cm ) and 55 kilos, so they started me on 25mg and increase 25mg weekly to 100, which is what I'm on now.
I had a few days of nausea when I first started and developed some startingly prominent vains, but apart from that it was OK. I've been on 100 mg for about a week now and have started getting really bad headaches: they are kind of one-sided ( left ) and spread down my face and neck and are waking me up at night. I think I may have had a bit of a cold - sniffles, sore throat, cough, but that seems to be clearing up now.
I know some people split their dose, so do you think it's worth trying? I'm seeing my GI on Monday, but I thought I'd ask you good folks on here, cos you actually take the stuff

Yes, I definitely think it's worth splitting the dose, in fact, thinking back on instructions from the GI nurse, she mentioned splitting the dose to avoid headaches (as according to her, they are quite common).
My son takes 50 mg morning and 50 mg night and is having no side affects. It did take close to 4 months for the aza to kick in though, so be patient.

how weird ive been having the same types of headaches and even developed a cold. Ive been on imuran since the beginning of july. I take it at night and it helps me but the headaches are less now and the cold is clearing up. I only take 50mg and i've been on the same dose from the start.

I've been taking it around 7pm with my evening meal, but am gonna try taking it morning and evening and see how it goes. Thanks folks.
