Stabbing pain and sudden constipation?

UPDATE Stabbing pain and sudden constipation?

This all came on suddenly.....stomach pain. E says that it feels stabbing but is only severe if I press. He says it is generally achy and he feels like he needs to go to the bathroom but he can't. He usually has loose stool a few times a day so this is very new. Up until yesterday he seemed to be doing great. Should I be concerned?

Where is the pain? When did he last have a bowel movement and is he passing gas? If it's in the lower right hand side then it could be the appendix. Wherever the pain is he could have a full or partial obstruction. I would at least call his doctor, and if he gets a fever, the pain gets worse or he starts to vomit I'd get him checked at the hospital.

feels like he needs to go to the bathroom but he can't.

Jack gets this usually from inflammation. So the body thinks there is still stuff in there but can't get it out. Have to agree with Valleysangel a call to the doctor most likely needs to happen. Hope it all gets under control quickly.

I would give the dr a call and let them know whats going on. As far as appendix, the pain can be in the lower right side, or around the belly button. I hope he feels better soon.

Saw the doctor today. He pulled labs. He says it is difficult to know at this point if he is just flaring, if it is a stomach virus, or if it is something more? Other than labs, we are just waiting to see. Thanks for your thoughts.
