Well, yesterday I got my first dose of tysabri. I didnt have a reaction to it, but I just felt a little tired I guess. Then, last night, I got a fever and im having bad diarrhea. I always get fever and diarrhea when I eat something that upsets my stomach. Im really hoping it was something I ate rather then a reaction to the tysabri..I ate fairly light but I did eat a hard boiled egg and although it smelled fine we thought they had been in the fridge a while..plus I tried a new seasoning.. I dont know

We'll see if I get another fever tonight. Bah. I dont think that you could get such a quick reaction on the first day if it was PML or something..but I just hope its not some other infection or something. Not only that but i'll have to stop the humira and wait a few months to see if tysabri is effective and I'll probably get sick in the meantime.

Has anyone thats been on tysabri had fevers after the infusion? Also, if you have been taking it for over 1 year, is it still working for you?

Hi,
Haven't tried Tysabri (Natalizumab) but doesn't sound like one of the reactions to the biologics...hopefully! From what I've read it takes a few weeks to notice results. I really hope you get some relief with this drug. Please let us know how you get on. Sorry I can't give any personal experience. Good luck.

I thought since its been a while I would update this thread.

My second dose of tysabri was a few weeks ago, and while I didnt really get the fevers and such associated with the first, for the next day or so after the infusion I didnt feel great. Sort of like a lesser reaction of the first time I got the infusion.

Both times I got the infusion I did notice that it helped, but not very much. I would say its sort of like a slightly weaker, longer lasting humira shot.

Im almost due for my third infusion but I dont think I am going to go through with it. I have been having neurological symptoms like dizziness, vertigo, and conentration issues. However, I dont think this is due to the tysabri, I believe its due to the vaso-vegal response in my intestines, which i've had for a long time now.

The reason I think I want to stop tysabri is just that it doesnt seem to be working very well. I am much sicker now then I was when I was on humira. I have declined and I just dont think its working out. I have heard that it can take a while to work, but I dont think that even if it "kicks in" its going to have such a dramatic difference to what im doing now.

Im going to talk to my doctor today about possibly switching back to humira.. with these weird neuro symptoms and its low effectiveness, I dont feel that the risk for tysabri is worth it. If I was feeling great then I would consider staying on it, but it just isnt worth the risk in my opinion. Oh well.. I gave it a try. I never tried Cimzia yet so I dont know if thats another option. The TNF blockers seem to be the most effective for me.

bad med

I was on Tysabri for a total of 6 months. I spent 2 of those months in the hospital with random infections and dehydration. I was finally taken off the medication when I went to a research hospital and felt so much better after a 16 day stay and 4 diffrent antibiotics and the new Humaria I was put on. I has such an awful experience and would advice anyone to try anything before this drug.
