How long do strictures usually have to be for surgery to be done? I have 2 separate 3cm long mild strictures at the moment. I am on 30 mg Prednisone, but i still have a lot of bloating and tenderness on my belly several hours after eating and I am eating low residue diet. Could these size strictures cause this and what is considered a mild stricture?

:welcome: to the forum! I am not sure the criteria for how long they are, I would think it would be of more "how bad it is". I had 6-8 inches the first resection and was the best thing I did at the time. Laproscopically done and was great after 5-6 weeks. I had a young daughter at the time so I needed to be there for her. 30mg is not a high dose but should be controlled somewhat at that dosage. Strictures can cause partial to full blockages and can be excruiating to say the least... you may want to avoid chewy meat, raw veggies and corn based foods. Dairy is also a gas and bloat causer. It could help to get antispasmotics but most times they dont work. How long have you been suffering this way and how far apart are the strictures?

Lots of help and great bunch to help you out.

I had a resection 10 years ago where they removed 12 inches due to stricture that was size of a piece of string. I know these strictures arent that bad, but didnt know what mild meant either. Thanks for your reply. I am also on Pentasa 4g, and Imuran 100 mg.
