Hi, i was recently diagnosed with crohns. things were going okay after i got some medication going. Recently things have gotten worse and the stomach cramping has gotten more intense. what is mostly worrying me is i havent had my period for 2 months. i dont know if it is the medication or if it is just the high levels of stress but i was wondering if anyone else had that problem?

Hi Pipergirl, and a very warm welcome to the forum :) Sorry to hear you are having symptoms again. I think it is probably best to go back to your GP or GI as they will be able to advise you better on the medication and on the period issues. I'm afraid I'm an oldie, and the monthly cycle is not an issue any more!
But we do have a subforum which is for teens only and you'll find several forum members on there who are your age, and someone might have similar experiences. The link is here:

But do come back here, please, and let us know how you get on :)

Hey. Have u lost much weight? My period stopped for around 5 months when my Crohn's was at it's worst. Can't say i missed it tbh! Anyway my GP had said that it wasn't a great cause for concern. Mine was probably down to the fact that i was severely underweight.

Hi, Could you be Anaemic? as this could also stop your periods. I would agree with Grumbletum go back to your your doc and see what they say. Hope you soon get it sorted out. Bev x

Hi Pipergirl and welcome :)

I just wanted to tell you that my daughter's period stopped completely while she was sick for a little over a year. Once she got into remission, it started right back up a couple of months later. The doctors were never concerned with it because it can happen when your body is so sick and stressed.
Still, as the others have said, you should certainly contact your GI and/or GP and make them aware :)
Best of luck to you!

Hi Piper, welcome to the forum.

What medications does your doctor have you on? Have you had a scope? I saw you're on Prednisone, that can have an effect on your hormones. I would definitely at least bring it up at your next appointment.

I hope you find some treatment that works for you and has you a little bit more comfortable.
