Hi there I am new to this forum and IBD in general.

I was diagnosed with mild crohn's in Nov '11 and put on pentasa. Since then I have had a decrease in 'toilet' probs, but have been struggling with nausea and feeling bloated and I was wondering if anyone had similar problems or any idea what could be the cause? Its driving me nuts!!

Thanks!

Did you have the nausea and bloating before? If not, it could be a reaction to the meds, or it could be happening because the food is no longer rushing through your body as diarrhoea (if that's what you meant by toilet probs- no need to be shy here!)

If you had the nausea and bloating all along, you may have Crohn's high up in your intestines or even stomach, where the Pentasa has no effect.

You could try drinking hot water after meals (that was advice given to me because I suffer with bloating), but I would mention it to your doctor or nurse if you have one, as you are newly diagnosed they may want to tweak your meds.

Thanks for the reply! And yes I did mean diarrhoea :)

I had the nausea intermittently before but it seems to be worse now, and definately associated with eating.
The doctor said I had crohns all through large intestine and maybe in terminal ileum, but they didn't look higher up.
He did mention that since I get really bad indigestion I may have it in my stomach.
The bloating is new so I might try your hot water trick and also mention it to dr.

Thanks heaps!
